Painting
Paint can be applied to both plastic mouldings and machined components to a variety of standards, as required through a variety of sub - contractors. With an in-house laser etching capability we can also selectively remove paint, for example on a clear moulding so that light can escape.
Painting is a great way to customise components and at Plunkett Associates we can offer not just a colour change but also a soft touch (rubberised finish) or RFI/EMI shielding.
Shielding paints are usually loaded with nickel, copper or silver particles to make them conductive and then applied as per conventional paint. Areas can be masked as required and due to the low non recurring costs, as applicable to small batch work as larger production runs.
Soft touch paints can be clear, allowing the colour of the primer of sub coat to dominate. Applicable to a range of substrates, they are typically used on surfaces that we come into physical contact with. The ‘feel’ can offer a significant contrast despite being only a few tens of microns thick.
Whether you know your painting requirement or know the effect you want to have, please contact us at Plunkett Associates and we will advise or direct you towards someone that can!
