Wow! Microfish robots swimming around your body?
Tiny 3D printed fish shaped robots are currently being developed to inject into the bloodstream to perform complex medical tasks.
A new manufacturing method called Microscale Continuous Optical Printing (mCOP) has been pioneered at the University of California, which is “quick, scalable, precise and flexible.”
Hundreds of microfish can be 3D printed within seconds, each being only 120 microns long and 30 microns thick, with the ability to be directed efficiently within liquids.
The hope is, in time, these incredibly smart microfish will be able to perform functions in humans such as detoxification, directed drug delivery and much more. Read more at 3ders.org.
