Sintermask Technologies AB appoints Plunkett Associates Ltd. as their UK Representative
27 November 2007
Molndal, Sweden, 27th November 2007 - Sintermask Technologies AB has announced today that Plunkett Associates Ltd. has been appointed to represent Sintermask Technologies in the UK and Southern Ireland. Thomas Nilsson, CEO of Sintermask Technologies stated; "This marks our first move to supply our technology into the UK market and has come at an exciting time in the development of our technology. The background and experience that Plunkett Associates brings, is seen as invaluable in establishing recognition for the capability of our process, both in the prototyping and most importantly, in the manufacturing arenas." Sintermask has been developing the Selective Mask Sintering (SMS) technology since 2000, with the goal of delivering a true production system. The process has significantly higher productivity than traditional additive fabrication systems for sintered parts, and can achieve impressive mechanical properties in the parts produced. In 2006/7 Sintermask has started to ship systems, with a total of 4 systems currently in the market.
"For rapid manufacturing to be truly successful it is necessary to migrate from prototyping systems to production systems. To be viable we need systems that can achieve a competitive product cost, in realistic production volumes, SMS is that bridge to production." says Thomas Nilsson. Plunkett Associates' activities in the area of technology development and rapid manufacturing, identified the significant benefits that were available through the use of Sintermask's process. Undertaking the UK representation for Sintermask ensured that the technology came to the UK at the earliest opportunity and provided a good basis for successful ongoing collaboration.
Tim Plunkett, Director of Plunkett Associates stated; "having pioneered the introduction of both Stereolithography and Laser Sintering into mainstream commercial applications, I am excited to be involved with Sintermask in bringing this technology to the UK. I see considerable potential for the process, both within OEM and service operations, and look forward to facilitating what I believe will be a big step towards the successful implementation of rapid manufacturing."
About Sintermask Technologies AB: Sintermask has a very strong technical background based on different additive technologies. The founder of Sintermask, Ralf Larsson, has realised two other processes, Sparx with LOM technology and Arcam with EBM technology, before creating the SMS process. Sintermask continues to have a very close relationship with the investors who have put a lot of effort into establishing Sintermask as the primary player for the manufacture of production parts by additive fabrication.
Sintermask has also established a very strong development team that continues to build world class know-how, not just within additive fabrication but also in printing technology.
